Black and White Wedding Invitation

Everything You Need to Know About Wedding Invitations

When it comes to planning your big day, setting a date and sending invitations are usually the first things you want to get moving on. The right invites can set the tone for your wedding and give your guests an idea of what to expect. That’s why it’s important to get them right. Here’s a quick guide to help you make sure you don’t miss any details when it comes time to send out your wedding invitations.

Choosing Your Design

The design of your invitation is arguably one of the most important aspects because it is the first impression your guests have about your wedding style; sets the tone for everything else. There are so many invitation options out there—from classic and elegant to more modern and playful designs—so take some time to browse through our gallery at The Invitation Maker to find something that you like. Work with one of our experienced designers to customize it to your needs. Don’t forget about other wedding mailer items like save-the-dates, RSVP cards, and thank-you cards too! The Invitation Maker can help you create them all with the same design aesthetic to match your wedding style.

Getting Your Wording Right

Invitation wording can vary from formal to the casual or even humorous. Most brides choose the language that matches the formality of the wedding. Usually, for traditional weddings, the couple will opt for more formal language while a more casual wedding might have invitations with more informal language. Some other necessary information to be sure to include: date/time, location, dress code (if applicable), names of hosts/couples, etc., so that everyone can plan accordingly. If you have any special instructions or requests, include those in your invite as well.

Choosing Your Envelope & Mailing Options

Once you have selected your ideal design and perfect wording, the next step is choosing an envelope size (5×7 is the standard) and type (square flap or pointed flap or euro flap). For an extra elegant touch, some brides will also opt for liner sheets with a coordinating pattern or color that matches the rest of their stationery suite. When it comes to mailing, there are many options available depending on how far out your wedding date is – from standard postage stamps (which will require additional postage if they exceed 1 oz.) to pre-addressed labels with return envelopes ready to go so that all your guests will need to do is sign their name.

Your invitations are an essential part of planning your dream wedding because they provide guests with all the necessary details about the occasion – from theme and style down to date/time/location etc. With so many design options available these days – not to mention envelope sizes & types plus mailing services – creating a memorable wedding invite can seem daunting at first. But with help from the team at The Invitation Maker it can be an easy and fun process! Just remember: when in doubt, go classic!
